A Smarter Approach to Weight Loss
I will tailor the dosing to each individual.
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro/ Zepbound name brand) consists of 39 amino acid peptides that stimulate two receptors in your body.
Tirzepatide stimulates the GLP-1 receptor - glucagon like peptide (hence GLP-1 people talk about with the medications) as well as another receptor - GIP (glucose dependent insulinotropic polypeptide).
These help the pancreas release insulin, which reduces hyperglycemia. They also helps with post prandial (after eating) fullness. This means you feel fuller quicker. They also help to reduce the "food noise" or cravings.
Possible Risks & Side Effects

Pancreatitis
An inflammation of the pancreas which causes abdominal pain and vomiting.

Thyroid Tumors
This risk was observed in studies with animals, but unknown in humans. If you have a history of multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 or medullary thyroid cancer you should not take tirzepatide.

Gallbladder Problems
Losing weight very quickly can lead to gallstone development and/or movement out of the gallbladder. If experiencing yellowing of skin or eyes, right upper stomach pain, or fever seek emergent medical help.

Diabetic Retinopathy
If you have a history of diabetic eye disease tirzepatide could possibly worsen your vision.

Hypoglycemia
(Low blood sugar) Typically this happens when tirzepatide is combined with another anti-diabetic medication, but it is important to remember to eat throughout the day even if you don't feel hungry.
Eating foods high in saturated fats (i.e. fried foods) may worse gastrointestinal upset.
The effects of alcohol on tirzepatide is largely unknown- some studies suggest it may help with substance abuse by the satiety effect. You can still drink alcohol with tirzepatide but in moderation. If you have a history of medullary thyroid cancer, or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, you should not take tirzepatide
